Dene Harlow
Artist Dene Harlow, a Colorado native, has been painting since the 1960's, beginning with watercolors, oils and eventually acrylics, his medium of choice today. His style has evolved over the years, from abstract to surreal to nature. In 1986, Dene took a break from painting to explore other art forms, including macramé, stained glass and woodworking. In 2002, he realized a passion for digital photography, and in 2005 decided to combine the two mediums, and has since been creating paintings from his photographs as well as his own imagination.
"I was influenced very early by the great works of Salvador Dali, and later by the photography of Ansil Adams, as well as many other fine artists. I try to portray normal settings, with an underlying surrealistic touch, which I hope the viewer will be able to project into their own imagination."
Born in Glenwood Springs, raised in Rifle, and with a studio located in Arvada, Dene (57) has been published in Images of the Mind (2002), and Best Photos of 2003 (2003) both compilations of internet photo contest winners, sponsored by The International Library of Photography"D'Ship @ Castaway Cay" (pages121 and 153, respectively.
